*Parents,
Keota Schools will be closed the remainder of the year based on Governor Reynolds announcement today. Keota Schools are working on a plan for Prom and commencement activities. We will continue with our voluntary learning opportunities and more information will be coming.
Based on directives from the Iowa Department of Education, the only courses that are required for Keota students are credit recovery classes and concurrent enrollment classes through local community colleges.
Will Keota Schools provide lunches during school closure?

How can I get my child's belongings?
- Students that need to get belongings should set up a time with the building principal to retrieve them. No more than 5 people will be allowed at a time and time will be limited.
Will prom be held as scheduled?

Do we have to make up the hours we have missed?
- The state of Iowa passed a waiver that excused schools from making up the hours. Keota Schools will be submitting to continue Voluntary Enrichment Educational Opportunities, which means additional days (past April 13th) will not need to be made up.
What about spring sports and activities?
- The IAHSAA and IGHSAU have cancelled all Spring sports at this time. No practices or activities will be held at Keota Schools. All buildings are off limits to anyone that is not considered essential staff.
How long are Keota Schools closed?
- Keota Schools is closed for the remainder of the 2019-2020 school year.
What about concurrent enrollment classes such as Indian Hills or Kirkwood?
- According to the department of education, if you are participating in a concurrent enrollment class you are expected to continue to do the classwork as assigned for each class.
What about my senior and earning their diploma?
- We are waiting for guidance in regards to granting diplomas without completing 8 semesters of school work. I do not have an answer other than that at this time.
